Eternal Echoes maps the journey through loss, grief and healing. Inspired by John O’Donohue’s prose and Mary Oliver’s poetry, I look to water and earth to seek solace in this voyage. The series includes minimalist pieces with a muted palette that convey the quiet and stillness that ensues after loss, and deeply textured, layered and bold pieces that hint to the tumultuous journey of grief and healing.

Inspired by Tara Brach’s work, I was going to call my new collection, The Sacred Pause, referring to those moments where we suspend all activity and consciously surrender to a momentary stillness that can last as short as a breath or two. But after a recent accident, I realized that the collection was more about Letting time Breathe, about the ongoing process and the challenges we experience in creating those moments of calm and quiet in our chaotic modern lives. These are breathing spaces that can help us reconnect to the essence of our lives.

I hope you can join me for this creative pause.

My new series, the Rhythm of Life, is an exploration of my relationship with time, and it originated from the time famine many of us are experiencing. “What is clear for all of us who are starved for time, is that the problem of time is not more time, not more efficiency, not even in itself longer biological life, not children, not artistic creations that we pretend will bring us immortality, not some sentimental relationship to imaginary gods,” says Jacob Needleman in Time and the Soul. “The answer to the problem and the sorrow of time is the experience of meaning.”

In support of Neekoo Foundation’s mission, in giving back to the community by establishing scholarships for young Iranians, I will be donating 25% of the proceeds of four pieces of my art work on exhibit throughout the evening to the Neekoo Foundation.

I created these pieces specifically for this cause, and while they each offer a unique flavour, they all share one foundational ingredient, which I am sure you will notice when you see them. Enjoy.
