Imaginary Terrains

In my new series, I use a palette that, for me, evokes the feelings of my country of birth, Iran: colours that carry the weight of history and the hope for tomorrow. Drawing inspiration from both natural and abstract forms, I create imaginary geographies, composites suspended in time and place, where the familiar merges seamlessly with the fantastical.

Imaginary terrains is an invitation to journey into the intricate landscapes of our inner lives – a reminder that the most profound places we can explore are not found on any map, but within ourselves. Using textures, layering, and unfinished surfaces, I aim to create familiar environments that encourage reflection on the internal tensions that shape our journeys and the intangible connections that define us; the invisible threads that tie us to the land and the world around us.

Ultimately, Imaginary Terrains is a tribute to the enduring human spirit that continues to persevere, heal, and dream, as it aims to make meaning of our human condition.
